A Family Business, Growing Since 1989

Michielsen's Tree Nursery is a family owned and operated business, proudly established by John & Sandra Michielsen in 1989. What began on just 2.7 hectares of land has grown steadily over 35 years into approximately 15 hectares of productive nursery — one of New Zealand's leading wholesale suppliers of deciduous ornamental and fruit trees.

Located in Brixton, Taranaki, we supply nurseries and garden centres throughout New Zealand, dispatching approximately 70,000 trees per year, mainly bare root or bagged on request.

John's additional knowledge of tractor ground preparation and spraying for horticultural crops has been a great asset to the business — and includes doing ground preparation for other nurseries in the area.

15 Hectares in Taranaki

Our nursery is located at 53 Waitara Road, RD42, Waitara in the heart of Taranaki — one of New Zealand's most productive horticultural regions. The deep, fertile soils and reliable rainfall of Taranaki provide ideal growing conditions for deciduous trees.

We currently grow across approximately 15 hectares, producing around 70,000 trees per year across our ornamental and fruit tree ranges. Our production methods focus on quality over quantity — every tree is grown and handled with care to ensure it arrives with your customers in the best possible condition.
